Depo Shot

I posted this question on Babies on the Brain board, but I really didn't get a response. I was wondering who was previously on the Depo Shot and how long it took to TTC. I was on the shot for almost 4 years and we might TTC late this year. I know that everyone is different. Just wondering if most people had a hard time after being on it. And how long after did it take to get a period, it has been almost a year for me.

I was on it for a while.... for like 4 years then a year off then another 4 years.  It took us 11 months from the time I went off BC.  I stopped the shot two months before we TTC'd, though.  So I stopped, took the pill for two months, stopped the pill then it was 11 months from when i stopped the pill....  hope that makes sense.

I started on the depo shot at my 6 week check up after having Ryan.  I too also heard the longer you are on it the harder it is to conceive after.  I have not had a shot since June 2006.  I finally had to call my dr last November and have her give me some medicine to start my cycle again.  I have had my cycle for about 4 months now, so we are hoping soon!

Thanks that helps. I also heard it takes awhile, and being on it for 4 years I am alittle concerned. I just don't feel normal not having a period for sooooo long. It has been since 2003!!!!

I was on Depo for about 5 years and my doc pulled me off since I was on it for so long.  I couldn't start another form of bc until I started my period (at the time, we weren't ready for TTC yet).  I waited about 4 months before I got my period.  Then for the next 6 months, my "cycle" was super irregular.  Even if I wanted to start a new form of bc, I wouldn't know when to start it.  By the time all this stuff was going on, we decided to TTC.  I had been off of Depo for a year when we started trying and it took us two months.  I have no idea whether we could have gotten pg sooner or not.  I'm hoping that I'll start having regular cycles again after I have the baby.
