Re: Which is better? The Zoo or Wild Animal Kingdom?
Zoo- Lots of hills to climb up and down. Lots of shade. Greater variety of animals. FREE PARKING!
Wild Animal Park...aka...the WAP- Majority of animals out in the boonies. Must purchse tram ticket if you want to see most of the African animals. Lots of walking to get to main part of park. NO SHADE. Some animals are off the beaten path. Good for hiking. Not a good park when its hot.
We go to the WAP more often only because its about a 10 minute drive from our place and we have annual passes. I prefer the Zoo for the variety of animals and atmosphere. The old WAP was awesome but the newer version just doesnt do it for me.
If you are going to be dropping money for 2 people to get into either park you might as well buy the dual membership annual pass. I think its $79 for San Diego residents. That way you can visit both parks and find out which one you prefer.

Someone asked this a little while ago...I think it's really a personal preference more than anything. Our zoo is very cool, but I thought the WAP was really neat-we did the tram ride and I thought the space that the animals had was really different than any other "zoo" i had seen before.
Since the WAP is out in Escondido, I'd go early! It can get very hot out there, especially as the weather starts warming up!

we always go to the zoo, because we don't leave too far from it.
today, after we eat homemade breakfast burritos, we're headed to the wild animal park! i'll let ya know how it is.
have you gotten a zoo/wap membership yet? i believe it's free to get into the zoo/wap for your little guy, but you & yh would get in free after joining. it's so worth it if you plan on going alot.

We'll just have to check out both and see which one is better for us. I'm guessing the zoo since I do have a little one, and I plan on getting the membership too.
