Sell me on your hair stylist please!

Having not yet found a stylist I really like, I'm looking for some guidance. I'm especially interested to hear from those with hair similar to mine who love their stylist. My hair is extremely thick, curly/wavy underneath and straight on top - it's strange. I generally wear it in a pony tail no matter how it's cut, because it would take me hours to blow dry it straight and letting it air dry generally ends up with my hair looking like a mushroom cloud. Any help is beyond greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Re: Sell me on your hair stylist please!

  • I have thick curly hair that I wear in a ponytail most of the time.  I really like the girl who cuts my hair (mrsking recommended her to me).  She is Raven at the Penzones in Gahanna.  She's good and listens to what I want and gives me a very manageable cut.  I do not use her for color.  HTH
  • I have extremely thick hair, that tends to do the mushroom thing, too.

I see Reed at the Kenneth's in New Albany.  I've been seeing her for 5 years.  I think she's $34 now?
  • I love Lucy at Penzones Grand Salon at Polaris. I actually followed her from Q-Spa (which is in my neighborhood) but I drive all the way to Polaris to see her. I have the same type of hair but way curly all over...totally sucks at times. Lucy is amazing and my recent cut has been so easy to work with (picture Katie Holmes bob...so easy!). Ive been seeing her for going on 7yrs now. Have you thought about permanently straightening your hair? It's expensive, but I've heard great things!
  • I have ridiculously thick, curly hair--it's actually curly on top but straight on the bottom :)

Danica at Grand Salon at Penzone's cut my hair the last two times and it's totally manageable and I really love it.  She's convinced me to go shorter and it really works for me.  She did some neat cutting technique that really made my hair lay much nicer, too.

  • I second Raven at Penzone's Gahanna - I have thick curly hair, and she's awesome at making it manageable! She's been cutting/coloring my hair for over 8 years now, she's awesome!
  • I have thick curly hair and I love my stylist. I go to Angie at Changes. There are about 4 other people in my office with varying types of hair that go toe her as well. They are offic eof Polaris across from BW3.
