Children's Gift Help

I need a little help. DH and I are going to our friend's son's 2nd birthday party on saturday. What type of toy is good for a 2 year old?

It seems like most toys out there (from looking online) are directed towards 12+ months or 3+ years for choking hazards.

So, what did you children love @ 2?

Re: Children's Gift Help

  • **of course, that's supposed to say "your children love @ 2?"  :)
  • When Ruby was 2 she used to love those chunky wooden puzzles. She also liked the Fisher Price little people toys. Books are always a favorite with her too.
  • As a teacher, I think you can't go wrong with board books. I bought my niece Brown Bear Brown Bear and she loved it!

  • Audrey loves her new shopping cart that she got for Christmas right now. I think kids this age probably like anything that imitates grown ups....toy vacuums, toy lawn mowers, etc. She has the Little People farm and she likes the noises, but doesn't play with it too much yet. Books are always a hit. She still really likes the ones with flaps to lift up and look under.

  • The little boy who I babysit for LOVES Thomas the Train
  • Connor is a little younger than your target (19 months vs. 24 months) but he loves his play lawn mower and he always wants to push our vacuum so we are thinking of getting him a toy one.  I have also bought 2-year-olds Mr. Potato Head.  I know the box says 3+ but most parents are supervising their kids and the parents love it and use to to help with pretend play and all the parts of the body.
  • Thanks for the help ladies!

    I'm off to ToysRUs  :)
