Anyone work for Westerville City Schools?
I live in Westerville and I am hoping to switch districts. I just noticed my dream job posted on their website. I would LOVE to have this job. Can you tell me more about the hiring process? If the job is posted on their website what are the chances of an outside person getting the job?
TIA
Jen

Re: Anyone work for Westerville City Schools?
I teach 1st grade for Westerville. If I remember right, you are a kindergarten teacher, right?
Westerville has you fill out the application online and then should send you a survey-type thing to fill out online. Your "scores" get sent to the central office, who moves from there. If you are chosen for the preliminary interview, you will be interviewed by a random administrator or retired administrator. Everyone hired by the district has to do this, teacher or not. Then, your scores from that are posted so that current principals can review and decide if they want to call you in for an interview for the actual position. Now, I will say that there are flaws to this system (i.e. scores not getting posted) and I don't know if this is still how HR does things; it was when I was hired three years ago. Luckily, I only had to go through the random admin part of the interviewing to get my job...I had long termed in that position, so it was pretty much handed to me.
I will say, from my personal experience, that when things are posted this early (or even really late into August), they are usually already filled; HR has to post it but does not have to interview any external applicants. That was how I was hired. Luckily, there were no internal applicants to try to take my spot. You know, I'm sure, that internal applicants get first dibs on any spot.
If you have any questions, feel free to page me or e-mail at jami@tjrpatton.com.
Jami,
Thanks so much for the info! I will probably page you with more questions. I sort of thought that maybe the position had to be posted but not necessarily interview candidates because of the start date. I was in love with the job because it was Kindergarten and it is at the elementary school three or four minutes from my house.
