I saw your post on the MPL board and I was afraid my response would get lost over there. I hope you don't mind me posting here?

Anyways....after my first m/c I had my D&C and was told to resume my normal schedule and try again whenever. I got pregnant the next cycle and as soon as I got my positive the doctor saw me for an US. There was nothing on the screen since I was only about 3-4 weeks. He sent me for betas every 2-3 days and saw me for US every week. I love my doctor. He helped me get through the m/c and my pregnancy. And BTW I was a "risked m/c" for the first 16 weeks of my pregnancy. He told me to call with any problem. He saw me for US whenever I was worried and also gave me his personal email for concerns. I also delivered 5 weeks early due to HELLP syndrome and he was there thruogh it all. He was the one who saved my life (I was going downhill quite fast). I presonally feel if you have any qualms about your OB that you find a new one. You will be spending A LOT of time with that person. Just my opinion. Let me know if you want to talk.

Hugs to you.

  • Thanks, Traci, I don't mind at all.  I'm being a bit cynical since this is what they've told me in the past. B/C our midwife is a friend of mine, I'm hoping that I can convince her otherwise.  I do really like the OB that I've been working with through the miscarriage as he's been through it before with his wife as well. I'm hoping that I have leverage there.

I'm already considered high risk from 16w on due to a LEEP procedure performed this summer after I was diagnosed with severe cervical displaysia (HPV caused).  They'll measure my cervical length closely.  I'm hoping with everything else going on that I can push them along up front now.  Tiffany, my midwife, took my betas just before 5 weeks which was great.  Then I had to wait until the first u/s.

I'm okay with waiting until 7 weeks until the first u/s to see the heartbeat. I think the betas would be helpful though to get me through the wait though. I don't plan to test really early so that even if I do have a chemical pregnancy, I won't even know it.  I tested at 14dpo the last time.  I'm hoping to hold out until 18-20dpo this time...more for my nerves.

We didn't avoid over the last few weeks so we'll see. If AF comes, she comes, and then I can get back on the CBEFM right away.

Thanks for your post, I really appreciate it!
