Virginia Update!
Hey ladies! I made it to Virginia last Sunday at 4 a.m.! I was assigned to the Communications Unit (aka Dispatch) so I was pretty disappointed but just wanted to work through this and get my degree... finally. But after speaking with the detective that has been with me since day one, he said the admin. work I was doing was unacceptable. (He prompted the conversation, it was just a friendly thing, not a complaining issue on my part.) He said that I needed to be in Homicide and/or Forensics at least 3 days a week and then the other 2 I could be in Communications if they needed help. My supervisor in Comm. wants me there 3 days a week and 2 in the other units so we have to iron all of that out on Monday but I'm ecstatic to be working in my field, soon!!
The trip was long and tiring but we made it! My brother flew in Saturday afternoon because he didn't want me driving alone, so that was very sweet.
I kind of feel like an outsider since I'm living in their house and "disrupting" their quiet lives. They don't think I am but I sort of feel that way. I don't know anyone but have had a dinner invitation from one of the dispatchers so I'll probably take her up on that!
So far so good. I miss Columbus already though...
