Childcare Costs in the Columbus Area

Can anyone share approximately how much they pay in childcare costs per week/or month.  How old is your child? Is it a center or in home?

DH and I are trying to start some research for budgeting purposes.  In the end it might make sense for me to stay home if costs are outrageous.

We are in the Westerville area.

Any insight you can provide would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Re: Childcare Costs in the Columbus Area

  • We don't pay for childcare yet.  But of the centers we were looking at in the Grandview area, it was around $1000 per month for an infant.  I'd say that is a good ballpark figure to work from.  Infant care is always more expensive.  Then the older they get (over 18 months), the cheaper it gets.  But it's still high.
  • For infant care, most centers will be $220+ per week with an increase every year.  Most in home places will be almost a full $100 cheaper per week.
  • We live in Gahanna and were paying $240/wk at one center, but just transferred to a center that's $260/wk.  So around $1000 is probably a good idea.
  • Thanks to everyone for their feedback.  I appreciate it!
