Our tech team has launched updates to The Nest today. As a result of these updates, members of the Nest Community will need to change their password in order to continue participating in the community. In addition, The Nest community member's avatars will be replaced with generic default avatars. If you wish to revert to your original avatar, you will need to re-upload it via The Nest.

old knottie back with a question on baby gifts!
Hi ladies,
I haven't posted in a LONG time, but i check the board from time to time even though I don't post much on the nest. I was a knottie and married in August 2005. I still live in Columbus and am a grad student at OSU. A girl I know (but not well) is expecting, and we are not close friends or anything, but I'd still like to get her a baby gift. My question is, when is it appropriate to give the gift? She'll be on leave after the birth, and we aren't close enough that I would be invited to a shower. Is there a right 'time' to gift?

I think gifts are always appreciated (and very rarely, if ever, inappropriate). If I was in that situatin, I would wait until the baby was born and then send a gift.
I would give it to her after the baby is born unless it's something off of her registry that she will need. Then I would give it to her before so she doesn't go out and buy it.
