Not the eyebrows ladies

I think I have mustered up enough courage and want to get a bikini wax.  Can you all give me some info. ~ where do you go?  how long does it last? is it worth the pain?  Are you naked from the waist down when you do it?  Fill me in!

I thought I could do a brazillian, but I'm thinking notsomuch   Let me also just add that I tried to wax on my own at home and knew from the get that it was a bad idea, needless to say . . .it didn't end good!!

I have never had it done, but I wanted to mention that I have awful images of that story with the lady who is trying to wax herself...and gets her butt sealed shut....some forward I've read...just a really funny image, Steph

I've gone to Penzone's and Kenneth's on Polaris. Make sure that you go to someone who has been doing it a while. You can expect to pay between $50 - $64/wax.  I pay the higher price only b/c I want the person who's been doing it the longest. 

You can have disposable panties on but it's really not worth it.  The girls I've seen say that 65-70% of their clients are there for Brailians so they look at who-ha's all day.  After the first time, you'll get over your modesty.  Some will put a towel over you but they're going to see it anyone to get the wax on ya .

If you're just doing a regular bikini, you can keep your regular panties on.  I figure that they aren't worth it though. If you're going to wax there, take as much off as you can.

I will warn you that the most painful area is the front middle.  When they wax the underside, it hurts the leas, IMHO.  That part is at least used to getting wedgies and/or having a thong so it's not as sensitive.

Absolutely DO NOT go 1 week prior to AF. The blood flow there makes it worse. Of course, don't go during AF either.

Rebecca at Penzones Polaris is amazing. I had a brazillian done before my wedding and she was great. Im not going to lie, I had 2 glasses of wine before I went (8:30pm appointment). It wasn't as bad as I had thought and I would absolutely do it again...I just don't have 85 bucks in the bank to spend on a waxing.

If you're going to do it, do it all! It's totally worth the extra $$ and the extra bit of pain, but you can do it!!! You'll be happy that you did.

oh and yes...she saw everything, but don't worry they see them all day long. They will cover you with a towel, but it really doesn't cover anything, I think its purpose is to make you feel more comfortable.

This is VERY helpful - thank you ladies!!  I definitely agree with some beverages before the appointment!  That is a great idea!!

I don't know if I can do the whole who-ha - wowzers!!

Another dumb question (and thank you for all the honesty) - is it bad when it grows back?  How long does it take before you start to see/feel the regrowth?

Ditto the pre-wax beverages!  I had some sangria before my pre-wedding wax.  It hurt like crazy, but it was worth it.  From begining to end I think it was about 15 minutes.  Not too bad. 
I went to Penzone's @ Wedgewood and saw Nicole.  She does all my waxing and is great!  Make sure to get some ten-skin (sp?) to put on after.  It really helps with the healing.

I forget the name of the girl I go to (Amber - what's her name???), but she's the highest level at Penzone's in Dublin. Loved her! I've had it done at other places and have never been happy & they took to long. I would gladly pay more for someone who knows what they're doing then save a few bucks and have it hurt or not be done right.

For me, a was lasts about 1.5 - 2 wks. before the regrowth is noticable. As already mentioned, for a bikini wax you can leave your underwear on - not so much for the Brazillian. I have a really high tolerance for pain so it doesn't bother me that much, it's more uncomfortable than anything else. You can take some Motrin before you go to help and just keep yourself from tensing up & exhale when they rip and you'll be ok. The pain is really over in a matter of seconds.

The regrowth from a waxing is SOOOO much better than regrowth from shaving. I can't remember how long it lasted, but it grew back fine.

I got bikini waxes at the Penzones in Dublin. You keep your panties on. I forgot to take Motrin before I went, but I was fine.

Here is my tip: Do NOT wear jeans! I made that mistake (I got waxed the day before leaving on our HM and had to go to class afterwards) and it was just a weird feeling. I think I was slightly sticky from the wax. Wear yoga pants.

It's Melody!  She's awesome, as Brooke said.  I've been going to her for 5 or 6 years now, and the pain has never been like it was the first time!  That's definitely the worst!  I always get brazilians; as pp said, if you're doing it, you may as well do it all!    When I get them there, I don't have a towel on (or paper panties) but she makes you feel as comfortable as possible!  If you do call to schedule with her, I know she's out for surgery for another 4 weeks, so if you need it soon, she's probably out!  She is expensive, but well worth it!  GL!
