Am I the only one who thought Jordin Sparks was lip-synching?

I thought so for sure twice towards the end when they were panning around the military people and would pop back to her and it wouldn't quite match exactly. DH and my mom said no, but I was like, okay whatever. And then wnci said that they thought she was the next morning. what did you girls think?

Re: Am I the only one who thought Jordin Sparks was lip-synching?

  • I didn't think she was.
  • I'm split on that.  DH swears she was, and I can kind of see how she could've been, but I like to give her the benefit of the doubt and think she wouldn't do that!  I keep thinking maybe there was a time/sound delay or something, and that's why her lips didn't match perfectly.
  • I didn't think she was, but I had heard WNCI thought she was.
  • I didn't think she was either.  Maybe like pp said, it was due to a delay or something?  Who knows!
  • I didn't think she was.  I didn't notice her lips being off, but even if they were, it seems like time/sound delays are happening more and more frequently for some reason.  Especially on the HD channels.
  • oooh, yeah, good point. HD signals are funky. I bet that was it!!!!
  • I didn't think she was, but DH swore she was, too :)
  • I am 99% sure she was. Either that or there was an audio delay.
  • Typically the artist who is singing the National Anthem actually is either lip-synching or singing with a recording they do ahead of time (I read that once) because a) the National Anthem is hard and b) the acoustics and noise make it harder for the artist to hear the music.
  • I am sure she was lip-synching - - which is fine with me anyway.  I think because it's so difficult to sing the national anthem as pp said, FOX didn't want their American Idol to look bad, so they pre-recorded her vocals.  There is no way she would have sounded that close to perfect if she were doing it live.
  • ditto osumelissa.  It is always recorded ahead.  I think mostly because the microphones and the speaker systems do not sound well on tv or probably even at the game too.  Look at how stupid the refs always sound.
  • yep, those are good points too. It definitely sounded like a recording to me, and personally I don't care, but I was just sure that it wasn't live and my fam thought I was just being critical.
  • I totally agree.  I noticed it twice for sure, but DH told me I was smoking something.  Glad to know I'm not the only one, but I can totally understand why should would have been.
  • I heard that it is the rule during major sporting events that they make the artist pre-record the Star Spangled Banner and sing along with their own voice.  They don't want anyone to royally mess up the song.  She did alot of voice runs and probably couldn't copy her recording exactly.
  • I sang at a high school football game once.  The guy who did the audio told me that everyone always lipsynces at games, especially the superbowl.  That its just too hard for the audio to match up, and there is some major phasing.  I just always assume everyone lipsyncs for big (and little) games.
  • WNCI just actually interviewed Jordin this morning and she confirmed that it was pre-recorded but that she was also singing up there because she hates the idea of lip-synching :)
