we bought land

we were kinda looking but hadn't gotten real serious about finding land to purchase to build a new house. well, last week we found property we loved and ended up getting a really good deal for what it involves. the only down side is no city water/sewer boo! we are looking to build in 1-2 years!

Re: we bought land

  • Congratulations!  Where is it?
  • That's so exciting! How much did you buy? And where did you buy it? We have 5 acres and are just finishing our build. We have a septic/well, so I can help with questions on that! :)
  • in galloway on a road off of norton by bolton field airport (pretty much right across from a golf course). it is really only like 5 minutes from our house right now.

  • liz, we bought 2.1 acres but it is really like 3 since we are next door to a fire pond that is owned by the state but essentially we share with our neighbors (kind of a weird situation but since we don't "own" the land it is on we are not responsible for insuring it). it is in a development of 15 houses with larger lots.

  • Oh, I know where that is--very close to our house, too.  Sounds really nice!  Yay!
  • That's a nice chunk of land :) You'll like having the extra space next to you, even if you can't do anything with it. My dad has a preserve next to him and it's great because no one can build on it! Though, I'm kinda surprised if you're in a development and aren't too far out, that you don't have water/sewer lines.
  • Congrats, Jill! Very exciting!
  • Wow! That's a huge step. Soon you'll be building.
  • That's so exciting ~ Congrats! :)
  • Congratulations!!  Building a house soon... oh, <sarcasm> what fun </sarcasm>
  • Congratulations!!!  Building a house can be such a fun and exciting time, stressful, but still exciting nonetheless!
  • How exciting! congrats.

  • Congratulations! We are getting ready to finalize our house plans (today actually, kinda nervous) and start building real soon. We have 5 acres of land and will have a septic/well. I will let you know if I have any advice when we are done. our builder is taking care of everything.
  • Congratulations!  That sounds so exciting.

Don't worry about the city water.  I grew-up just outside city limits without city sewer or water. It is much better. A little more expensive upfront, but it pays off if you're there long enough. AND you don't have to deal with the city to get things fixed.
