filed our taxes last night!!
WooHoo!! We are back to getting a refund (after the whole Roth IRA debacle last year). DH wants to pay on some bills but I want to buy a new camera. Why did I marry such a fiscally-responsible guy ;o)
Re: filed our taxes last night!!
i will finalize and file over the weekend
We are usually ready to file but not at all this year!
Congrats on your new camera! Sounds like a good deal!
lol To balance out your splurging tendencies DH and I are the same balance--I want to save or spend on something responsible and he wants to buy something. Namely a TV. lol!!
But congrats on the refund--we did a preliminary run of our taxes and should be getting a good chunk back, too
Plus, I have to run our taxes three different ways this year. Jointly, separately with the houses on his, and separately with the houses split between ours. That's a total of 5 returns and I have to do it at both the state and federal level before I decide which one is best. The last few years I found that even if you pay more in federal you save a lot more in state to file separately.
Then, I have to do both Columbus and Dublin tax returns since we work in Cbus but live in Dublin. I figure it takes me 60 hours ever year and I hate it.
We are almost all done with our federal taxes...then we have two state returns to do (Ohio and Arizona). We were planning to owe quite a bit of money because they do not take taxes out of Chris' grad school stipend each month, but actually we will not owe very much (at least at the federal level), so we are quite happy.
Last year we got a big return and we were partly responsible and partly not...we split the return in thirds. One-third went to savings for our trip last summer; one-third went to paying off a credit card; one-third went to us as "fun money". Then we split that one-third fun money between us and each bought stuff for ourselves.
its good that you balance eachother out.. you can always buy a camera when you get the other check come may/june.
we havent touched our taxes yet...
but with 3 kids and a mortgage, i am sure we will get a return.
