Don't underestimate the power of craigslist as an outlet to sell your car when you are ready. We never thought we would be able to sell me car (with the odometer problem) but we found someone after lowering the price a couple of times. It is free to list there and it was nice to be able to manage everything through email.

Though, I'm not sure how good a car with go that has "f-u-c-k" scratched into the trunk. (Not sure if it was from my ex, or if it was just cause I lived near campus at the time.)
My dad always bought older cars from private parties for us to use when we were teenagers. I'm sure if Craigslist existed back then, that would be where he'd look.
