Hi,
I'll be joining your board as a local soon, as DH and I are moving to Virginia in May. I have some thoughts about where we should live, but I could really use some help from people who know Northern VA!
I'm a Marine being stationed at Quantico. DH is still job-hunting in the area, so we don't want to buy a house right away (although I think we would like to buy a house as soon as possible, given the current market). We'd also like to rent in the area we're going to try to buy in while DH job searches.
I've been thinking of Woodbridge, because our income will go the furthest there in terms of buying a house. I like Alexandria a lot (I lived in VA for a year, six months on Quantico and six months renting in Stafford), but I worry it's too expensive for us, although maybe we could afford a townhouse. I'm open to other possibilities, too, as long as my commute to Quantico won't be too terrible and we'll have access to D.C. easily (for DH's most probably commute, I'd think, and also because I love the city).
Any ideas for where to rent/buy? Anything I'm missing in my current perspective?
