Wireless Internet user ?

So Dh and I are looking into getting wifi for my laptop and I'm lost. :)  What provider do you use for your wifi?  Do you have cable internet at well?  What do I need to do to go about getting my laptop hooked up to work?

See, I told you I'm lost!  Thanks for any help you can give me!

Re: Wireless Internet user ?

  • We have just regular WOW internet service.  What you will need to do is purchase a wireless router to hook up to your cable modem or whatever you have.  And as long as your laptop has wireless capabilities you shouldn't have to purchase anything else.  Now if you laptop is a few years old and doesn't have a wireless card built in, you will need to purchase a wireless card, they connect either through USB or a card slot you have on the side of your laptop.  HTHs
  • What about when we travel? :)
  • we also just use our cabel internet service.  but if you want somethin you can use when you travel i know you can get internet via most cell phone companies.  Im not sure how it works or what it entails but its someting you could look into.  Im also not sure if its soemthing you would want to use everytime u use your computer.
  • As long as your laptop is wireless capable, if there is wifi when you are out and about then you will be able to connect to it.  You will just need to seach for available wireless networks and pick the network that is for the location you are at.
  • I had a wireless card from verizon wireless that worked everywhere. I think it was around 70/month though but was nice because I took it to work with me.
