Anyone ever dispute an eBay purchase before?

I bought an item on ebay that turned out to be nothing like it was advertised (despite a stellar seller rating at the time). I'm not getting any response from the seller regarding a return/refund. I've disputed the purchase through paypal and now I'm just waiting to see how it gets resolved.

Has anyone else gone through this with an ebay seller? If so, what was the outcome? Did you ever get your money back? Any suggestions?

I went through this a couple years ago, it was the one and only time I ever bought anything from Ebay because I had such a bad experience. I never got my money back and Ebay and Paypal did nothing. And the seller threatened to give me a bad rating if I gave him a bad rating...it was horrible!!! I couldn't even use the product I bought, so I sold it in the paper for about half the price I bought it for, which sucked because it was hundreds of dollars!

Ugggh, that does suck. I've used ebay a lot in the past and have never had a bad experience. But I'm not at all optimistic that I'm going to get my money back on this item. I hate getting scammed.

I have, a few times. Once, I never recieved an item. The seller was furious that I disputed the claim because Paypal froze his account until it was resolved. I've always recieved my money back.

i did, although i disputed it immediately after the auction ended and never paid. the person never responded and neither did ebay, so it kinda just went away. luckily for me, cause i was the biggest newb and didnt read all the fine print or read his feedback.

I did dispute once. I simply didn't get my item and could not contact the seller. After about a month, I got my money back. Just follow the format and be very detail when you type out the dispute.
