MD nestie asking for hotel rec's

Hello from MD!  I'll be up your way in March for the UFC pay-per-view with DH and some friends.  We're looking for an inexpensive hotel by Nationwide Arena.  Also, I'm not going to the fight but would like to go to a sports bar to watch it, if you can recommend a good one in the area.  Thanks so much!
The day I left was just my beginning.

Re: MD nestie asking for hotel rec's

  • I'm not sure how many inexpensive hotels are downtown but I would look at the Crown Plaza, Hyatt Recency, Red Roof (all on Nationwide Blvd) and there is a Hampton Inn (High Steet) not too far from Nationwide Arena. A great sports bar would be The Frog Bear and Wild Boar Bar. Great bar right by the arena!

    Enjoy your stay!
  • ditto Danica's reccomendations.  that weekend is the arnold classic, a body building comp. hosted by the governator :).  most of the hotels sell out and the ones that don't usually have pretty high rates.  if i were you i'd try to get a room today.  if downtown is booked try campus area, worthington or hilliard.  you can get to those areas in a cab for less than $40.  GL!!
  • In addition to what Danica said, I'd also check the Drury Inn which is right next door to the convention center. The Lofts are across the street from that, but rooms tend to run around $200-$225 per night. Very cool hotel though. Have fun!
  • If you can't get something downtown I would look close to campus - Olentagny River Rd. There are a few inexpensive hotels over there...University Inn is one that pops in my head. HTH!
  • Ditto what the pp said, I would check the hotels around Olentangy River Road especially if the downtown ones are booked or super high rates because of the UFC fight and the Arnold Classic. The Fairfield Inn is where my parents always stay. There is also a Holiday Inn on W Lane Avenue that you could check as well. A cab from either of those hotels would probably run about $12-$15.
