Xango manosteen juice?

I'm going through some health issues. Has anyone tried Xango? I know it's a pyramid sales thing and it's very expensive. I know several people who swear by it...but they also sell it. lol
Any experiences or suggestions?
TIA!

Re: Xango manosteen juice?

  • My folks have been drinking it for a year or so. They drink about a shot a day. They do not sell it, but they love it (Mom especially). You just reminded me that I have a brand new bottle in my wine cabinet. Ha!
  • Sorry, but I think all of that is a load of crap.  There are a half a dozen (at least) of these "miracle" juices, and I think all they are selling is good vibes - if they "work", it's by a placebo effect only.

My DH has his phd in a health field, and he told one of his students - "I don't think it will hurt you, but I don't think it's a miracle cure.  If you want to pay all that money for some juice, go ahead."

One of my client's parents sells it and my thought process goes like this.... your son has long term illness... you supposedly sell this miracle cure for all-that-ails-you.... if it really worked, you'd give it to your son and cure him, right?

  • I am curious....what is it eactly?
  • I don't know anything about this specific brand, but it's one of many juices that have popped up in the last 5 or so years that usually run around $20-30 per bottle and claim to take away illness.  They are all sold on a pyramid-scheme.

I got really annoyed by Tahitian Noni juice, for one, because they were telling my MS clients (when I worked for the MS society) that the juice would basically cure their MS.  People with long-term illness are usually on a fixed income and are pretty easily swayed by any hope for getting better.
  • I'm doing radiation treatments for thyroid lymphoma. My Dr. mentioned that Dr. Oz (from Oprah) says that the mangosteen and xanthones are great for my immune system. Just wanted some opinions.

XanGo? Juice boasts a proprietary whole?fruit formula, harnessing a concentrated rush of xanthones?a vigorous family of next?generation phytonutrients. Sounds complex. But here?s the straight scoop. Research shows xanthones possess potent antioxidant properties that may help maintain intestinal health, strengthen the immune system, neutralize free radicals, help support cartilage and joint function, and promote a healthy seasonal respiratory system

  • Wendy, sorry if my posts sounded like I was preaching or anything.  My opinions are based on my own experiences with the people that sell this type of thing.  I just want there to be some substance behind the message and the promises, you know?

It sounds like what it offers might be something that could help you - antioxidents and such.  Could you try a few bottles and see if they make you feel any better?  If the nutritional properties are such that would be of benefit to you, you don't expect any sort of miracle cure, and your physician recommends it -- then it sounds like a no-brainer to at least try it out.

Let us know if it helps!

  • Mrs Pink,

Thank your for your feedback! I'm still doing some research. My Dr. recommended drinking Pom (pomegranite juice), but It's loaded with calories. It also does not have the "xanthones". I'm going to several other Dr. apts. this week, and I will keep you posted.

  • My mom sold it and drank it when she was still alive.  She really liked it.  I don't think it was any kind of miracle cure for her, but there were lots of people that swore by it.
  • I just read an article in Smart Money about pomegranates and how millions of dollars were spent marketing them, and researching any hidden health benefits - by a family who was left a pomegranate grove in an estate (the POM manuf.).  But all findings have pointed to the fact that pomegranates are not any healthier than any other fruit. The article then when on to say how mangosteens were the new pomegranates, but that it won't be long until its 15 minutes are up.

My point of all of this is, I'd talk to your dr. first before you fork over the money.

  • I just read all of the posts - it sounds like you are talking to your doctor, before you make the decision.

I tried to find a link to the article on the website, but it's not listed. If you'd like to read it, it's on the last page of the February issue.
  • Funny you posted this.  I just started Xango a few weeks ago.  I have breast cancer and the testimonials of the benefit it's had for cancer patients were too good to pass up....and I'm a huge skeptic by nature!  My doctors are all for it as long as I don't stop conventional treatment (chemo, radiation, etc.) which I won't.  Who knows if it works (and maybe we'll never really know) but I will tell you that I am taking a very toxic chemo agent right now and am feeling surprisingly good.  Also, I have to really protect my immune system, not only for myself but for my preemie, so I figure the extra antioxidants and other immune boosters can't hurt.  I really do hope the Mangosteen is a miracle fruit because I want to see my baby grow into an old woman!

Good luck with your treatments.  Stay strong!

  • One more thing - my friends sister has PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome) and has had on average one menstural cycle a year for the past 10 years.  She's been trying to get pregnant and this has obviously been a problem.  She started drinking Xango in September and has had 3 periods in a row.  Coincidence?!?!?
