Pet/House Sitting Recs

Hi gals,

We are going on vacation for a week and a half in May.  We have 2 dogs, which makes it expensive to board them.  I would like to find someone that is either a college student that might pet/house sit for cheaper or someone that comes into the home that is a little more reasonable. 

Does anyone have anybody/service they would recommend?

My cousin house sits for us (and we pay her). She actually pet sits for a number of people because she is big into animal rescue so all of her friends have lots of pets. I would definately recommend her, though I understand if you are looking for something more professional and not just a personal recommendation.

I also have friends who house sit for professors all the time - fellow political science grad students, whom I would trust without questioning. If I wasn't antiicipating an impossible spring quarter I would volunteer myself.

I worked with a girl for 4 years that did house sitting and pet sitting. she love animals and i would use her/recommend her in a heartbeat! she is on the west side in galloway. let me know if you need her info!

Kelley -- Something to be concerned about is insurance!  Make sure whoever you use can show you proof of insurance (similar to cleaning services).  If they aren't insured, you may not have any recourse if they accidentally lose or injury your pet -- or your house -- etc.

I just used a company called Happy Tails - www.happytailsohio.com. They are located in Hilliard and are bonded & insured. I was very impressed with the service and my dog loved the woman who runs it (her name is Anissa). She also keeps a daily log of her visits and puts them on her website every night so you can log on there and see when she visited and what she did during the visit, which I loved. Oh and she brought in our mail and newspaper every day for no extra charge. Good luck!
