FOOD Websites

...I am just not very 'culinary' oriented.  I guess I just lack inspiration in the kitchen.  And truly it is to my DH's expense.... poor guy, he is so skinny!

Does anyone out there have some inspiring food/recipe websites that they like to depend on?  The old cookbook just isnt doin it for me anymore...

I would love any help you could provide!!!  TIA!!!

=)

Re: FOOD Websites

  • I go to the What's for Dinner board and look at people's blogs.  A lot of the nesties have cooking blogs, and they post pictures and reviews.  It's great for ideas!!
  • Well, I am ALWAYS trying new cookbooks.  You might try Half Price Books for some new cookbooks.

I also get a lot of ideas from www.allrecipes.com and www.kraftkitchens.com.

  • I love Cooking Light.com and the What's For Dinner part of this board.  There are a couple girls on there that I just check out there blogs everyday and it is good for motivation.  I have a blog, too.  (in sig)

And if you want tips on fattening your dh, I pretty much caused my XH to gain about 25 lbs when we first started dating :)

  • My DH always use www.foodnetwork.com for recipes. I also check out www.bhg.com. I have found great recipes from both sites!
  • I have just about all of Rachel Ray's cookbooks and as annoying as she might be on-air, she makes tons of delicious food.  "365: No Repeats" is a great book to start with.  If you watch her show on the food network, it can be quite addicting (if you can stand her enthusiasm).
  • I love www.epicurious.com.  Some of the recipes are a little lengthy and have lots of ingredients, but I've always had excellent results.  Reading the reviews after each recipe is really helpful for suggestions and ingredient substitutions.
  • You can also check out the library to try-before-you-buy on cookbooks. We got a Robin Miller cookbook for our wedding that we've used a lot, and I've also been using Google Reader to keep up-to-date on nestie food blogs. I like reading the blogs because they usually note substitutions, what worked/didn't, etc.

I also subscribed to receive the free Kraft magazines through their website. Obviously, they use mostly Kraft products, but they're pretty simple recipes with a lot of variations and photos for each recipe. I found them a good place to start learning basic recipes.

We also started keeping a categorized list of recipes we tried & liked - it makes it easier to make up our weekly menus when we can remember some of our choices without digging through all of our cookbooks.
