2008 presidential race, very exciting.... a friendly discussion
I went into this 2008 politcal season with dread as I am still tired from 4 years ago, however I must admit I have been caught up in the excitement of this year's politcal race. I missed last night's debate but will watch the rerun tonight on CNN. I like many of the candidates running on both sides except for one.
1. if you watched the debate, what are your thoughts? (friendly discussion)
2. who do you think will end up running in the end?
3. who do you think will be voted president?
4. Who do you WANT to be president?
- I think it will be McCain vs. Obama but it's too early to tell.
- I "think" Obama will be elected president
- "think" I want Huckabee to be elected president though I still have a lot of research to do before making my choice.
Re: 2008 presidential race, very exciting.... a friendly discussion
i like friendly discussions DH and I spent the weekend reading up on the stances on the major players. speakout.com was really helpful with that, where oyu can take a match quiz, but then also read how each of the candidates falls on each of the issues.
1. didnt watch it
2. i agree, McCain and Obama
3. im really unsure! i could see it going either way! Obama seems to stand for hope and change in the system, but DH thinks he's unelectable, at least for now
4. Edwards. I actually would be ok with Obama, Guiliani or McCain, but I like Edwards the most because he is the most balanced middle-road (in my opinion) i'm a bit tired of extrimism on all sides!
i really dont think that McCain has enough backing to pull out... and he sure as sh!t doesnt have enough to beat Obama.
That said I really really like Edwards, but I dont think he will get the nomination. Clinton, I dont think will get it either, I think we as a country are ready for a black president, but (globally speaking) not a woman president. I dont care for Hillary anyways.
I wont decide who I am voting for until i see who it is gonna come down to in the lead for rep, and dem.
i think i am more republican, but never choose based on party.
and will Guilianni (spelling way off i know) just give up, there is only so much coat tail riding of 9/11 you can do, his 15 min are up
Final nominees?? Too close to call right now. I would love for it to be Hillary and Bloomberg (even though he's not even running right now).
Voted president? Most likely the Dem. nominee, whoever that ends up being.
Who do I want? Hillary. I've always liked her as a candidate and was so excited when she first announced she was running.
However, I would also be very excited if Bloomberg were to decide to run. Time is running out but I think if Romney and McCain can't top Huckabee, he may step into the race. And I like him very much as a presidential candidate.
If its Obama/McCaine, it will be a tight race.
I would be happy with Obama, Clinton, McCain, or Edwards as president. I would consider leaving the country if Huckabee is elected.
Please please please McCain or Guiliani pull through for the Republicans!!! I hope Obama is the D's candidate!! Hillary is wayyyyyy too liberal for my taste.
1.) I dvr'd the last debate. I haven't watched it yet. But I don't think I have missed any of the other debates.
2.) It's so hard to say who will get the nomination for the Republicans. It wasn't too long ago that McCain's campaign was almost bankrupt - but now he's picking up speed. If I had to guess right now, I would say Obama and McCain as well.
3.) I would say that if it's Obama and McCain, McCain will be elected. I think Obama has a much much more liberal record than what is commonly known right now.
4.) I've gone back and forth on this. I've loved Guiliani for a long time. He made some great changes in NYC - getting rid of organized crime, etc. But there are also some things about him that really bug me. The longer it goes on, the more I like Romney & Thompson. I wish Gingrich was running though.
2. Obama vs. I don't know yet, maybe Huckabee, he's been a surprise candidate.
3. Obama (can't wait to see who his running mate is)
4. Obama (I have liked him for a long time and have been reading his books)
Just wanted to add, that I don't think there is anything wrong with being religious and a person of faith. It's just that if you read Huckabee's website, almost every issue statement starts with something about his faith. To me, religion and faith is a very personal thing. Plus, I don't agree with a lot of his stances on issues.
