I am having sleep issues with my little one (17 months next week). Basically he used to be a great sleeper, but now it is hit and miss.
Here is our sleep routine..
eat, bath, book, milk, then in bed by 7 PM. He has to be up by 6:15 AM so we can get off to daycare and then to work for me. He gets up around 11 PM and then again 2 AM, sometimes more if we are having a rough night.
He does take a nap at daycare (about 1.5 hours).
Is this normal? Is the bed time too early? Any other tips?
Thanks
Re: Moms...need some advice
Ruby has always had sleep issues. With her we finally figured out that too much stimulus was to blame. We basically had to limit the bedtime routine to less stuff. (Like less toys in the bath, only read one book, and keept the routine to 30 minutes or less).
Her bedtime has always been 8pm (starting the bath at 7:30) and she usually wakes up between 7-8. On the days that she has a ton of interaction with other kids, she wakes up in the middle of the night. (she is 3 1/2 now and we have always had this problem).
We pretty much know that this is just her personality. It sucks but oh well. Violet on the other hand sleeps like an angel! 12 hours at bedtime and a 3 hour nap during the day.
Just food for thought... our little guy (18 months) has been like this since he was born. He would sleep well for a few months straight, then hit a point where he would wake 2+ times per night (sometimes every night, sometimes every other for a couple weeks).
We asked our doctor if this was normal. He said that it happens a lot during a time of major development for the child. I wasn't so sure of his answer, but found that during these times Logan began doing new things. One time it was crawling, another time it was walking, and another was a sudden development in his language.
I hope he gets to sleeping better for you. I know how frustrating it is when your little one doesn't sleep.
