What would you go back to school for if $ wasn't a worry?

Re: What would you go back to school for if $ wasn't a worry?

  • Ah... my eternal question....  :)

When I'm eligible at OWU to take classes for free, b/c they don't have a graduate program, I'll take fun classes like Spanish or Photography

Otherwise, I waffle between a phD (though watching DH finish one kinda squashed that) or a second Master's.  Master's: law, art therapy, public health, public policy.... something to piggy back my Master's in social work and keep me in the same "non-profit" mindset.

  • Well, I am done with school as I have both a B.A. and a Masters. But, I guess if the school bug ever hits me again later in life, I would go for finance or French or both :)  I really wish I had stuck with French, but decided just to do a single major instead of a double one.
  • I am starting grad school in 2 weeks! I am getting a Master's Degree in Integrated Markting Communications an online program through West Virginia University
  • I think I would do something fun, like get my esthetician's license, to work p/t in a spa or something doing facials. It's $7-10k, and the schedules are such that I couldn't work f/t in the field I'm in, so with lost wages it would end up costing closer to $15-17k, and not bring in much income as a f/t job anyway.

But I can dream, right? lol
They didn't have you where I come from...never knew the best was yet to come...
  • Since we're just dreaming!
I'd love to be a preschool teacher or a social worker or marketing/advertising.  I'd love to go back to NPO, but not sure that's even a viable option!

I can go back to school via work (they will pay the full bill inc books) if it's something 'related' to what we do.  I have not looked into it yet, but that's on the 2008 adjenda.

  • well, i swear I'm not doing it again, but law. that's what i'd go back for. but i'm not, really.
  • After watching my nephew get his cochlear implant at almost 3 yrs old (he was born deaf) and seeing him doing sooo great in a regular 1st grade and talking and hearing EVERYTHING now, I'd go back for Audiology in a heart beat and work with kids w/ cochlear implants! It's amazing!

  • i would get a masters, and maybe a phd in bioethics.  i have a b.a. in philosophy and am fascinated with how theoretical ethical ideas translate to real problems/situations.  If I had an M.A. or PhD in bioethics I would, ideally, be on a risk management/IRB board for a hospital and work at a university. The downside to this profession is that jobs are few and far between :(
