cmunks VS. Easton Hoodlums!

We took our 8 year old niece to see The Chipmunks tonight at Easton. What a nightmare! The movie was adorable, but about 5 minutes into it about 30 (literally) 15-16 year old teenagers barged in. They were screaming F *** the chipmunks, and causing a huge scene. Then one of the kids got mad at someone in the back and shouted I'll shoot you Biatch. Finally the police came and literally dragged several teens away. The police left and it started all over again. Long story short, this happened about 5 more times. I went to security and the police officer told me that we should not come on the weekends and its much safer during the day. WTF? I grew up in Whitehall and now live north west. How can things get soooo bad? They refunded our money, but we won't go back!

We went to the Ocean Club tonight for dinner and it is one of our favorites, but the moment you step foot in the mall it's nothing but riff raff!

Re: cmunks VS. Easton Hoodlums!

  • I teach at the high school in Whitehall, so I'm around this kind of behavior all day....and I will never go to a movie on a weekend at Easton.   Isn't it sad that it's like that at night there?
  • yikes! sorry the movie was completely ruined for you and your niece!
  • It is a sad story. I graduated from WYHS in 1992. My grandparents still live on Pierce Ave. and it's just going down hill. I held Easton on a higher scale, but tonites experience certainly changed my perspective.

These kids had absolutely no respect, and the way the girls were dressed is a whole other conversation. It's almost like they just were looking for you to say something or start trouble. They were harassing the police officers calling them racial slurs "whitey" etc. The sad part was the police were so busy dealing with bigger issues (theft, fights, etc) that these kids in the movie theatre were almost a waste of the officers time. My husband leaned over during the movie and whispered "these are our tax dollars hard at work". It took 5 off duty cops for 1 chipmunk movie.
  • The problem with these problem children is they are not confined to the shit holes they created, they are like locust infesting other nicer area's as well.

Eastons movie theater has always been an issue...we go to the Marcus (?) in Pickerington, never seen a fight there but I have always known there were issues at Easton.

  • I went to Capital and we used to go to Easton all the time with no problems.  That's weird.  I lived in a ghetto house with some friends after graduation in Whitehall and I couldn't wait to get out of there.  It was gross.  We started going to Rave motion pictures at Polaris and we like it there a lot, it's a nice place and they have DLP screens, so the picture quality is awesome.
  • Ever since the Northland Mall closed, I refuse to go to Easton during the weekend.  I can't believe what I see when I go there, there are so many disrespectful teenagers.  I always end up leaving in a bad mood.  What's worse is that I can't believe that they continued to ruin your night at the movies.  I hate to say this, but what happened?  I can't ever remember being that disrespectful when I was a teenager.
  • Wendy, I graduated from WYHS in 1999.  :)
  • We went to see Santa at Easton and they escorted some 614 gang members out right in front of us. I told D it's really not safe there anymore, even to see santa sadly.
  • I used to work at The Hilton @ Easton.

I know from experience that a lot of bad things happen at Easton, and rumor is that anything that happens at Easton is kept secret.  I know is was said that Les Wexner allowed no media on Easton's property.  I know nothing is ever in the paper or in the news.
  • This happened to our family once during a family movie at Easton.  Luckily, my HUGE (think:  6'3", linebacker sized, bald-headed, mean looking) brother was with us.  All he did was stand up and the kids ran for the hills.

Unfortunately, it's not just Easton.  It has happened several times at Marcus in Pickerington as well.  I just prefer to go to Blockbuster when movies come out on DVD.  That, or go during the day, when the punks are still sleeping after the previous night's mischief.

  • My friend works for the PR firm that handles Easton...I'll have to get the scoop from him! I had no idea Easton was going downhill :(
  • We saw two movies Thursday at Easton and were out by 7pm or so.  I joked that we needed to get out before all the little f-ers showed up.  (Ha.  I teach high school...I swear I like kids!)  I was joking, but I guess it wasn't far from the truth!
  • we have stopped trying to go to movies at easton

we go to RAVE @ Polaris which is super nice :)

  • Wow, yeah sounds like Easton is going downhill... here's a recommendation... DH and I live downtown in Columbus... next time you want to see a movie and have a good experience try the Arena Grand Theater downtown.  We go there ALL the time and avoid Easton and the Lennox at all costs.

The Arena Grand has parking super close, there are a ton of great restaurants nearby... and it's weird to say this but DH and I feel 100 times safer in the city than we do in the suburbs.  Last weekend we walked to the theater from our apartment to go see I Am Legend... we had a lovely time and no riff-raff either...

Downtown is the place to be!

    =)
  • we were there this past wkd.  I've found if you go during the day (say before 6pm)...it's not bad, but after 6-7pm it gets really scary!

I just don't get why 'kids' feel the need to be so rude to other people!  When I was young...if we'd acted even close to the way the kids do, we'd been dead!  We'd NEVER gone back our in public w/out a parent...and I mean not 5 ft from mom!  I guess some parents just are not what they used to be!
