** Rooette **

This is totally random, but I just noticed your post on the Central PA Knot board to a knottie in reference to the Hotel... and thought it was too funny/ironic that you were married at the chapel and had your rehearsal dinner at the Inn - we did the same thing this past June!  My FIL is a professor at the seminary, and FIL's father/his father's two brothers both graduated from/taught at the seminary.  MIL also graduated from there, and DH is now a student!  DH's family has a Celtic band that is the house band for the Inn, and Sal, the owner, is now a family friend... hence why we had the rehearsal dinner there.

To make a long story short... clearly, you have wonderful taste. ;)

Re: ** Rooette **

  • And just to add to that... I just read your reply in the post a little further down on the Knot board - and I'd be willing to bet I know JUST who your organist was. :)  I'm biased, but isn't he amazing?!
  • Yes!!! He was amazing! I was really happy to have such awesome music. Our OOT guests enjoyed it a lot! And HE went to seminary with MY FIL, who did our ceremony and he graduated in 1980. Whew. Apparently our FIL's were (and still are) good buddies back in the day. Too crazy! Tell your FIL that Jimmie S's DIL says Hello and THANK YOU! I saw your knottie name and ran to your bio and pics to put the face to the name and when they matched, I had a spaz and replied as fast as I could. It's a small world after all, it's a small, small world.... Thanks for getting back to me, I'm glad I had my facts straight and you don't think I'm a nut. Amanda PS, your FIL could not be at my Rehearsal cause he was booked to be at the Inn, so we got to hear him during dinner anyway. It was such a great weekend!
  • Aww... I'm so glad you loved your music, too.  He took me to the chapel about a week before the wedding to play through some of the pieces, and I sat there in the front pew and cried my eyes out.. it was that beautiful to hear and it suddenly sunk in!  I just love, love, love the chapel (we lucked out and they let us use the gorgeous candle holders that line the aisle... by far my favorite part of the whole thing) and loved getting married there.  It was DH's ONE request for the wedding - he grew up in the house just down the hill from the chapel (right behind Valentine Hall) and has always loved it.

Anyway, I'll have to ask him about your FIL.  The seminary/church world is a very small one, especially when you have a line of pastors in one family and an unusual name - it's easier to discover those connections!

Oh, and if you heard them (and yes, our rehearsal night fell on an Inn night, too... but, well, my FIL came to the rehearsal. ;) ), then you've seen my H in person and my SIL (my MOH) and MIL.  DH plays the bass and bodhran; SIL plays the pennywhistle; MIL plays the guitar... all sing, SIL most of all.

Anyway, so, so, SO weird what a small world the Nest can be! :)
