Long Distance phone companies

Up until now, we've used Spring/Embarq as our local phone company. I'm not comfortable not having a land line and so don't just want to rely on digital phone/cell phones for long distance. We've been using a company called Intelcom out of Dublin. But, we've been having problems with our service and would like to find someone new.

Any suggestions? Are Embarq's rates okay? Any other long distance phone companies you suggest? If I can't find a good rate, we may just rely on cell phones and keep the land line for local calls.

Thanks!

Re: Long Distance phone companies

  • We bundle a landline with cable and internet through WOW, with this package the phone is $20 a month, unlimited local and long distance. I am not sure how much it would be without the package, but we love WOWs service.
  • That sounds pretty good... but, we use Time Warner right now for digital cable and internet access.
  • I use AT&T and have had great service. I have unlimited long distance and local calls, a bunch of extras (caller ID, forwarding, 3-way, etc.), a fax line, plus DSL internet and the total per month is $108 or so.
