Tell me about your OBGYN

It's been 10 weeks since I had a baby, and I'm already thinking about #2!!  Seems strange, and I'm sure that we'll wait a while before trying for another, but I know for sure that I need a new OBGYN.  I like mine as a person, she's very sweet, but throughout the pregnancy, we were on different wavelengths.  I knew I was further along than she kept saying.  Even my ultrasounds said I was due 10/1, and she insisted on keeping my due date 10/15.  So towards the end, when things started to progress and my body got ready to have a baby, they were treating it as if I was 35 weeks instead of 37, etc.  Plus, when I was in labor, I kept calling her office and they said that it was 'just early labor, don't worry,' even though I was describing everything happening -- they weren't worried.  I finally decided to go to the hospital after spending an entire day at home, in pain, thinking something horrible was happening (because, according to her, I wasn't in active labor yet).  Turns out I was 7cm dilated and almost ready to have a baby!
When she was called to the hospital, came in, watched me push once, and left saying "call me when his head is almost out!".....but his head was totally out in one push, and they couldn't find her, so DS's head just kind of hung out for a minute or so until she came in and put her gown on, etc.  It kind of bothered me that she wasn't there....and I tore horribly because she didn't cut....and DS came out with breathing issues, which I can't blame on her, but I pushed for 3 hours and his head was out for a couple minutes, so that might have contributed to it.  Who knows.
Anyway -- I need a new OBGYN.  Someone who is VERY nice helpful.  Suggestions?

Re: Tell me about your OBGYN

  • Sorry, that should be nice AND helpful.  I type too fast for my own good!
  • wow!  I would be looking too!

several of us go to Northeast OBGYN and any dr there is great. Dr. Parker will not prescribe BC if that is something you may ever want...just a heads up.

    www.neob.net is the website i believe. :)

  • I go to Northeast OBGYN in Gahanna and see Dr. Sabol. I have seen Dr. Russ in the past and he is very nice as well.
  • Dr. Lindauer at Northwest OB/GYN. Love her!
  • I HIGHLY recommend Dr Beth Boyles with Women Physicians in OB/GYN which just means the whole practice is women docs. I went to see her at thier Dublin location, which was so convenient, but delivered at Riverside only because the new Dublin Hospital wasn't ready yet. Here's the lowdown:

Dr. Beth Boyles was born and raised in Indiana. She graduated, *** Laude, in 1978 from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio and received her medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine in 1982. In June of 1986, Dr. Boyles completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Riverside Methodist Hospital and St. Ann's where she received the John Maier Award for outstanding performance. She in on the OB/GYN Quality Assurance Committee at Riverside Methodist Hospital. Dr. Boyles was board certified by The American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecolgy in 1988. She and her husband live in Worthington and have three children.

  • um - who is your OLD obgyn??????????

My favorite OB is Dr. Elizabeth Sabol.

However, if you want to deliver at Riverside I recommend Dr. Elizabeth Orwick.  Although, admitedly she has been on maternity leave for most of my pregnancy so I don't know much about her (only met her twice).

  • I love, love, love Dr. Leeman.  She came in at midnight when she wasn't on call to deliver me because she didn't want me to be uncomfortable with an unfamiliar doctor.  She is at Northwest OB/GYN in Hilliard.

  • I see Dr Vanek at the previously mentioned women's physicians in OBGYN. Not ot sound dramatic, but I switched OBs when I found out I was PG. I believe I wouldn't be alive if I hadn't switched to Dr Vanek. Through my pregnancy she was so attuned to what was going on and even when I was in the hospital, was always working for my health and that of my children. Overall, it's an excellent practice.
  • I see Dr. Vanek at Women's Physician's in OBGYN as well!  I really love her and DH thinks she's fantastic, too.  I see her at the Dublin office, where she is on Thursdays (she's at Riverside rest of week), but will deliver at Riverside.
  • I used to see Dr. Sprague at Northeast OBGYN. He was really good and all my friends and relatives go to him, but he never seemed to be available so I switched to Dr. Sabol and I like her too. I really don't like Dr. Hull from Eastside Clinic.
  • Here is another vote for NE OBGYN. I see Dr. Russ and Dr. Parker delivered my daughter b/c he was the on call doc. I have also seen Dr. Sabol and I LOVE all of them. I am PG with #2 and feel so extremely comfortable with this practice.
  • Wow -- I'd be upset too -- that's awful how she and her staff treated you!!

I do really like my Dr...  Dr. Teteris. He's part of a practice that has offices on Olentangy, in Dublin (near Tuttle Mall), and in Westerville.  He delivers at St. Ann's and Riverside.  I always liked him as my regular Gyn, but went to a specialist for fertility issues because I wasn't  totally thrilled with how he was handling that.  But, since I got PG, he's been wonderful and supportive and DH and i really like his attitude about various issues.  We've had a lot of ups, downs, and worries in the pregnancy and he's been GREAT.

  • I see Dr. Goist at OSU. She's wonderful...
  • I also see DR. Melissa Goist at OSU.
    She is wonderful!

I had a m/c last year and she was so kind & sympathetic. Even came in and saw me early when I first started bleeding so she could do an u/s and check.

Cameron was also breech and I felt horrible 4 days before my scheduled c-section. I called the office and told them I had been very sick in teh night and just did not feel good, also had hgorrible back ache. They told me to get dressed & come in, I was there around 9 am.
Baby was still breech and I was still only 1 cm! I started bawling at the thought of being that miserable for 4 more days. She left the room, came back in 5 minutes and told me she had time that day that she would "squeeze the c-section in" on her lunch break!!
I waddled over to L & D and he was born at 12:47!

I alwasy felt she was rooting for me, even in teh hospital when teh nurses did not want to give me food yet, or forgot to give my pain meds. She went ahead and scheduled all in the computer so there would be no mix up about times or anything.
she is such a good doctor-I can not say enough nice things about her!
  • I see Dr. King at Northwest OB. I like the staff there a lot.

  • I had a terrible experience with my the obgyn who delievered my first daughter. My second pregnancy was a million times better. Dr. Vicki Miller is amazing. She and the rest of her practice at Northwest OBGYN are fantastic!!!
