teachers - need your help please

Hello!  My very best friend wants to move back to Columbus and is in need of a teaching position.  She can teach science and social studies for grades 4-9.  Does anyone know of any possible openings?  Have suggestions of where to send her resume?  Thanks for your help!

Re: teachers - need your help please

  • At this point in the year  I would  check

    1.  Ohio REAP - which where districts would post positions www.ohreap.net

She could also check The Ohio Department of Education
    www.ode.state.oh.us/

  • My suggestion for her at this point in the year is to sub consistently in one district, even one or two buildings within the district so they get to know you.

Olentangy has begun hiring for the new high school.  She can apply online.

  • Thanks, I will pass on the suggestions.  She's actually starting to look now, but she plans on finishing out this school year in NC, so she wouldn't be starting here until the fall.  Is it too early to look?  When do teachers have to give notice if they're not coming back next year?
  • Teachers don't have to give notice that they're not coming back until July 10th.  In my district, our contracts get renewed in the spring so that tends to be when jobs start popping up.  It usually takes awhile for districts to post them.  When I got my teaching job, I was hired on the 22nd of August and school started on the 25th.  You just never know with Central Ohio's job market.
