Please be thankful

for your healthy family.  I heard news today that the mother of one of my students has breast cancer.  She is 25 years old and the chemo is not working for her. She is very ill and trying to raise her 5 year old son. Unfortunately she has no family locally.  Her family is from Mexico.  I just can't imagine what this family is going through.   I thought about her all afternoon.

It makes me appreciate my healthy family so much more.  It really puts life  in perspective.

Thanks for reading.  I just feel so sad for this family and wish there was something I could do for this woman.

How very sad. I know BC occurs in younger women, but you don't hear about it too much.  Is there something the school is going to do for the student? that is quite a lot for a 5 year old to handle.

That is so sad......I can't even imagine what she and her son are going through.  Can the school raise money for gift cards to restaurants or something? Sometimes, we have a sign-up sheet to make food and take it to their home.

Our principal is out on sick leave but I am hoping to do something for the family.  The child speaks Spanish and very little English.  I am not sure how he understands about what is happening.  But I know that he sees his mom go to the hospital.
