***Remember, he was born 6 weeks early and weighed 5 pounds 12.3 oz and was 17 1/2 inches long***
13.1 pounds = 50th percentile FOR A TERM BABY
24 1/2 inches long = 48th percentile FOR A TERM BABY
Head, don't know the measurement, but it's in the 3rd percentile for a term baby. He has a tiny head.
Apparently the pediatrician looked at DH and said, "You have a tiny head, it's genetic. Don't worry about it."
DS still has a soft spot so the pedi wasn't worried AT ALL. He said it's when they DON'T have a soft spot and a small head that they are worried.
He wants us to continue with cereal, but to try Oatmeal instead...Ethan HATES the rice cereal. If that doesn't work to try cereal with bananas. A few days before 6 month appointment, he wants us to start introducing vegetables for meals
We're continuing with the prevacid for another 2-5 months, depending on where he is at his 6 month appointment.
Doctor is VERY pleased with his progress and encouraged us to continue with tummy time, even if Ethan is pissed about it. He had a good point..he said to DH,
"When do you have your best workouts? When you're pissed, right? When Ethan is pissed, put him on his belly. Let him be mad and fight, it'll help his muscles!"
I'm so freaking happy right now I started crying when I was telling one of the girls at work about the appointment. Since he was a preemie for no reason at all, I felt guilty. Like I did something wrong, I could have prevented it, etc. Even though it was nothing I did. I cried for days when he was first born, telling him how sorry was that I let him down. It was so hard, and I went through so much...probably more than most people will ever know...and unless you're a preemie mom, more than people could ever understand. I am just so happy that he's thriving and doing so well. I'm not letting him down...I'm helping him so much!
I can't wait to go hom and love all over him!
