    I was an intern there over the summer and I did.  In fact I'm 95% sure all employees must take one.

    Do you mean to be a cop or for any jobs?  DH was trying to get on as a cop, and he had to take one.  I'm not sure about the other jobs, but I would plan on having to.

    All police officers have to and I'm pretty sure all personnel in general has to take one.  They aren't as bad as you might think.

    That's what I was afraid of.  On my questionaire, they ask if I've ever used/tried marijuana.  I've tried it several times in high school/college, but not for the last 7 years.  I'm afraid that if I admit to it on my questionare, it will jeopardize my employment.  Will they ask about this on the polygraph?  Any advice?  I hate to think that something I did as a kid is going to affect the rest of my career.  I really want this job (in the crime lab)!  Thanks for your advice!

    Yes, they will ask and do not lie.  I smoked marijuana less than 5 times when I was in HS which was 5 years ago for me and I admitted it, passed my polygraph and got the internship. I went through the hiring process just like anyone else would have.  I believe CPD's rule is 5 years for drugs, as in you haven't done them in 5 years.  They understand that people do stupid things when they are kids and that is that.  As long as you don't try to hide it and you are currently using or didn't do it recently.  You'll be fine, it's been 7 years!  Good luck!     a friend who is currently in the accademy . He has done drugs and i am sure has had other questionable behavior... and like i said he is in the accademy. dont lie, you'll be fine.... YOU JUST REALLY CANT LIE

    Thanks for the advice!  I'm fessing up to every little thing I've ever done on my questionare.  Pretty embarrassing, but hopefully it won't keep me from getting an interview.
