My confession....

We're putting up our Christmas tree this Sunday!  ::gasp::

My reasoning is that the only guests we anticipate thus far this holiday season will be here on Tuesday, so it makes sense to have our stuff up when someone will actually see it.  I'm sure other plans will be made, as well, but these are firm plans.

My good friend Melissa is bringing her daughter over for dinner on Tuesday (Gabby's birthday).  Melissa is my older and wiser friend, and I call her the baby's 4th grandma (she was the 1st person to know I was PG after DH).  Melissa and Gabby haven't been to our new house yet!

And then later that night my brother, fiancee and her son are flying in from Texas.  They're staying overnight before heading to Dayton.  They haven't seen the house either.

So sorry to all you Turkey lovers!  Any other year I'd totally be with you on the "Respect Thanksgiving" thing, but not this year.

Re: My confession....

  • Whatever works!

Two years ago we waited until the big after Christmas sale at Target to get a pre-lit tree at a great deal. We went home and put it up & kept it up for like the entire month of January, LOL.

  • Last year, I had a party at my house the 1st weekend in Dec and we were in Vegas over Thanksgiving, so we put everything up the weekend before Thanksgiving so I didn't have to stress about that and cleaning and food!
  • Oh yeah and that's the other thing... we won't be here for Christmas, so we wanted to enjoy it.  We didn't put it up at all last year because of Bella (not looking forward to the inevitable there even this year).  I usually like to keep mine up until mid-January though.
  • Don't feel bad.  Both of my trees have been up since last week.  DH did outside lights today, and we are not the first in our neighborhood! :)  I heart x-mas!
