Best Cakes?

My DH is graduating in December and we are going to celebrate. You know, a "THANK GOD IT'S OVER!" party ;-) 

I'd like to get a cake that isn't the same old Kroger/Walmart special. Do you have any recommendations?

Piece of Cake in the Short North did our wedding cake and it was very YUMMY!  They are really friendly and can make any flavor you want.  We had lemon w/raspbery filling; chocolate w/carmel ganash (sp??) and plain white.  The lemon is my fave!

We just got a birthday cake from Mrs. Goodman's in Worthington and it was really good.  I think it was $20 for a 6" round cake.

We LOVE Bachman's Cake Shoppe in Powell - they did a fabulous job on our wedding cake, and we go there for birthday/anniversary cakes all the time now. I highly recommend their chocolate cake with either cherry filling or ganache :-)

I second Mrs. Goodman's - I'm a cake snob (yes, I can admit this!) and they make the best chocolate cake I've ever eaten. No funny stuff, just delicious cake and real icing. FYI - I've heard that you need to order ahead, not sure how long though. Now I want cake...

Golden Delight Bakery is really good. They have fresh strawberry cake...yummy! We had it for our wedding. They are located on Bethel Rd @ Bethel Centre.

The French Loaf! in Grandview!! The cake is amazing and the prices are very reasonable.

Hip - I called on Tuesday morning (H forgot to order a birthday cake) and we were able to get a cake by noon.  Mrs. Goodman's does keep a *few* cakes in case of emergency.  They even had the flavor combination I wanted - chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream.

Strangely enough, my 10 year old daughter thought it was too sweet.  I got the rest of her slice also!
