Looking for info on DUBLIN
I may be accepting a position down there (I'm in Mich now) and am in the need for some information on the area.
Do you have any apartment recs?
What is the avg cost of living?
Is it a good area?
Any information you'd be able to give would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
Re: Looking for info on DUBLIN
Dublin is a VERY nice area. The costs in Dublin are a bit more than surrounding areas. We lived in the Lakeview Square apartments which is a townhome-type place with a garage. It was off of Sawmill road and was considered Dublin. Centrally located with lots of things around to do. My SIL also mentioned something in Dublin, off the beaten path that was affordable in the apartment living range for Dublin but I am not sure what that is and will have to get back to you. The neighboring town is Hilliard, where I live.....I am very fond of Hilliard and would recommend checking us out too since we are right next door from Dublin (I say "us" as in Hilliard).
Our favorite restaurant is Jason's which is in Old Dublin. Would highly recommend going since it will give you the feel and in my opinion a good impression of Dublin. Also, Dublin has an AWESOME rec center that is affordable if you have a Dublin Address which is something to consider if you are looking outside Dublin to live.
HTH, feel free to page me with any West-side info (Dublin is in the Northwest side of Columbus and MANY nesties - although I love them dearly - live on the East side.....)
PS - Dublin
(sorry NO IDEA how many times I typed that word.....)
There is a site. It doesn't have interior photos but we took some when we first moved in so if you'd like to see them I can email them to you.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
I live in Dublin and love it. I don't have any recommendations on apartments though.
For what its worthy, I think the taxes are not outrageous and even though they are a bit higher than some other suburbs, the services Dublin offers are worth it. For example, there are public pools and the recreation center plus we have both free recycling and trash (most places in the area only offer free trash or free recycling and you have to pay for the other). Everything is very well planned and designed. The communities are really different in that way. It was certainly one of the things that drew us there.
My DH and I lived in Dublin for a year in an apartment. There is tons of stuff on Sawmill Road and near Tuttle, so you don't have to drive far to get what you need. However, the traffic on Sawmill on a Saturday is horrible...I think it took us like 20 minutes to get to 270 once when it should have taken like five minutes or less. you definitely will want to learn the "back" ways for weekends, especially if you live in the Sawmill area.
All in all, Dublin is a nice town with a cute little "downtown" areas, some nice restaurants, and cute bars. However, it wasn't for us. It was too suburban for us and we wanted the urban feel of living. And now we live in a huge urban area (Phoenix, AZ)
Oh, and I definitely do not recommend the apartment community we lived at in Dublin-Arbors of Dublin. It was horrible...the apartments were nice, but the management was atricious.
