anyone scrapbook?

any tips or places to start for someone who has NEVER scrapbooked?

I've always been interested and now.. i'm thinking of creating a super wedding scrapbook...

just seeing who else might be into it and what you might share :)

Re: anyone scrapbook?

  • i made a scrapbook of the years that DH and I dated.  we put it out at the wedding.  i am not very good at it, so to get ideas i used the internet and asked people at work, who scrapbook, for ideas.  there is a scrapbooking store at easton, archivers, that is supposed to be very good.
  • Hi!

I highly encourage you to take a class at your local scrapbook store.  There are several around.  Polaris, Powell, two in Gahanna, Pickerington as well as the big box stores.  Most beginner classes are around $15.00 and the information you will learn about tools and such is invaluable.

Also attending crops will help learn from others.  I taught for 5 years...so I am a huge advocate for classes.

Have fun and remember there really are not any rules...just what you like!

  • there are many accomplished scrappers on here :) i know iheartsean was pro for a while before her photography business [;)] so i'm sure you can pick up lots of tips.

scrapping can be fun but $$ so be sure to shop the sales when you can. all the craft stores carry basic supplies and have regular sales on them.

for inspiration the best place is twopeasinabucket.com which is an awesome scrapping website. check out their members gallery, its great.

and good luck! i started making a wedding scrapbook and only have 3 pages done after 2 years hehe.
  • posting jinx erin!

  • thanks guys great info!

i was trying to decide between doing an all out scrap book or just a photo book at snap fish or mypublisher.com but I think if I make a photo book it'll be good for both sets of parents and we can print a copy for ourselves but the scarbook would be OURS!

we didn't get any prints from our professional photographer, just full digital rights to do whatever we want with them :)

Also.. side question.. is it lame to give our parents these wedding photo books as xmas presents?
or should they just be on the side type of gifts . . .  we never did get them anythign as wedding presents .. but.. they didn't pay for anything for the wedding either.. so...
    ?!?! :)

  • I would recc. starting out small. (As in smaller albums) there are plenty of options out there and it's easy to get overwhelmed and not finish. (I've been working on one 12x12 scrapbook forever it seems!) It takes less it fill up a page on a smaller one and you can get a sense of accomplishment easier. As a previous poster mentioned, classes are fun and a great way to learn how to use tools and get ideas. It's easy to go crazy and buy a bunch of stuff, but don't feel pressured to. You don't want it to sit around and go to waste. :) I have my own business making custom invitations and have lots of scrap paper you are welcome to, if you are interested. :) erin
  • photobooks are great options, and faster. nothing compares to handmade of course, but it does take a lot of time and effort! and photobooks make great christmas gifts for your parents too, no worries about that! plus you can often get great deals when you buy more than one to help cut down on the cost.
  • i wouldnt start first with your wedding book. i have been scrapbooking for a couple years and the first stuff I made isn't nearly as nice as the later. erin is right take a class (i didn't) but they can help you put together pages and learn the techniques. check out the twopeasinabucket site that is where i get a lot of my ideas
Warning No formatter is installed for the format bbhtml
  • plus since you own the images you can always and go back and scrapbook it later!! once you have more experience :) start small and learn some techniques and things you like. then you can make something really great with your wedding photos.
  • I made photobooks for both sets of parents last year with wedding pics - they loved them!!!  I did mine on Shutterfly - really user friendly and they came out great!
  • I go to Hobby Lobby (the paper is usually 1/2 off).
