Been to Myrtle Beach?

We're taking a pretty low-key honeymoon, due to moving across the country and not having much extra money. We decided on Myrtle Beach. The resort is between North MB and MB. I was wondering if any of you might have specific rec's of things to do? Activities, must-hit restaurants? Thanks!

Re: Been to Myrtle Beach?

  • I don't have any specific suggestions for Myrtle Beach but you should check with the South Carolina local Knot board.  We went to the Florida coast for our HM and the girls on the FL boards were very helpful.
  • i was in mytrle beach a few years ago and spent a lot of time down south of Myrtle itself in Murrell's Inlet. There are a couple restaurants and it's a little less "party-like" and much more relaxing down that way. check it out!

  • There's a TON of stuff to do in Myrtle Beach. Barefoot Landing is all shops and some dining. It's in North Myrtle. Broadway at the Beach is where Hard Rock is. They have little shops, restaurants, movies, miniature golf, etc. There's two Tanger Outlets down there, one on 501 and one on 17. Across from Broadway is Nascar Cafe and they have a track you can race on. There's Dixie Stampede and Medieval Times which are both dinner shows.

We go every year, but we typically stick to the beach and go shopping at night. There's always 10 of us, so we only eat out one night. And it's usually at River City Cafe in Murrells Inlet (there's one in Surfside to, which is closer, but doesn't have as much seating). http://www.myrtlebeachscrestaurants.com/River-City-Cafe-Murrells-Inlet.html

  • We went a couple years ago and it was fantastic! We preferred a little more low-key, so when we wanted to go to the beach, we went to one of the State Parks (along the way to Myrtle Beach) Downtown Charleston isn't that far away, and they have great  little boutiques and restaurants. (Sorry I can't think of any names off the top of my head.)
  • My husband and I went last year for a last min. vacation, and had a good time.  We booked are trip last minuate so we did not expect much.  I would suggest going to trip advisor and checking out their forum I get all my travel info from that site (and the experts for an area I go to.)  You can post questions and get recommendations for places to stay.

Check it out, I have used it for 4 vactions now and have not been disapointed.  As far as MB goes expect it to be a tourist spot and you will have fun.  We spent most of out time at Broadway at the Beach and then the Tanger outlet mall was fun too.

    Good luck and enjoy!

  • DH and I went last year. We spent a lot of time at Broadway on the Beach and at Barefoot Landing. We also ate at a really good Italian restaurant called Rossi's. I love it there- so much to do.
  • Thank you SO much for those recommendations. I appreciate it!
