Where to get work clothes?

Try Sears or JCPenney.  If you're teetering on that size 12/14 line (what I typically think of as "not quite plus"), you might have the best luck in the misses' section--they can go up to size 18 lots of times and sound like they might fit you better than plus-sized (I'm actually having the opposite problem...down to a size 16 with things getting big on me, but the regular size 16 or even 18 stuff doesn't fit me right b/c of my butt, thighs, and boobs).

Anyway, what I'm trying to suggest is the department stores...they have both sorts of sizes and should have what you're looking for. ((HUGS)) and good luck!

Re: Where to get work clothes?

  • Given that I just got done being pregnant, I haven't been 'real' clothes shopping in a long time...so I might be no help.  But what about New York & Co.?
  • New York & Company!!!!!! I LOVE that place!
  • I'd also recommend checking out Fileen's. I've gotten a few suits from there. They have a great selection, good prices, and also have them in regular and plus sizes. Might be worth a shot...GL!
  • You could try TJ Maxx or Marshalls. I get suits there that are of a good quality (discount price) and then take them to get altered to fit better.
  • I just wanted to mention too that NY&Co carried up to a size 18 and they have coupons all the time for $30 off when you spend $75. Did I mention I love that place! :)

  • Lane Bryant goes down to size 10 or 12, I think.
  • i second all the pp suggesting ny & co.  if you go to their web site and sign up for their mailing list they will send you a coupon almost every week, via e-mail, for $30 off $75.
  • Thanks for all the suggestions! I was in NY&Co during the summer, and got some clothes for our belated honeymoon, but I guess I didn't think about them for work stuff. I'll definitely have to check that out.

And I totally forgot about Filene's and JCPenney because they aren't close to my house, but they aren't too far from work! I bet I can find some good stuff there.

I'll probably try Marshalls too, but I haven't had good luck there in the past, though I know others who have great luck finding stuff there.

Thanks for all the ideas! I knew I could count on you guys!
  • I know I may be late on this but I second (or 3rd or 4th) NY& Co. I was just in there because I just had to get a bunch of work clothes. As of Saturday, the pants were buy 1, get 2nd half off. Plus, if you have a card there, you can get city cash! Can't beat city cash!
  • Sorry if I am late on this one but I got some GREAT business clothes at Ann Taylor Loft.  And they have tons of stuff always on the clearance rack and it's a great deal IMO!  They have up to a 16 maybe 18.  Lane Bryant however only goes down to a 14, just FYI.
  • I may be a little late on this, but NY & Co.!! I get everything there. It is the only place I can find decent work close, and they have a good range of sizes.
