Neighborhood mystery
Ok so this has been bothering me since around this time last year. I have a neighbor directly across the street from me. She's probably in her early 60, lives alone with her dog, likes to garden and hands out popcorn to the kids for halloween. Nice lady . . she waves when we're out in the yard but we've never actually spoken.
Last year around this time I noticed on her full glass storm door she had a couple strips (varying lengths) of blue painters tape on the window of the door. I couldn't figure out what the purpose was and thought maybe she was working on a project and stuck some already cut pieces there and forgot about them. They stayed there for a couple months.
So Saturday I wake up from a nice late afternoon nap, head into the bathroom, look out the window and the tape is back! Not only is the tape back but its now on 4 pains of her 5 pain bow window. Top to bottom about 4 pieces of tape, each strung length wise down the window with gaps in between. There are also a few smaller pieces on the glass door as well as what looks to be a blank piece of paper.
I know I'm being a crazy nosy neighbor but its bothering the heck out of me why she has this tape on the windows. Anyone have any ideas? Does this correspond with spring (it happened almost the exact same time last year)? Lent? Tape watch 2009 continues . . .

Could it be to keep birds from hitting the windows?
Keep out evil spirits that lurk in the neighborhood during lent?
Or is she is tracking the island on Lost with complex mathematical calculations and tape?
I like the bird theory! Though it seems odd that she wouldn't do the last window and the whole door.
With Lost anything is possible! Maybe I live next door to an oracle

Hmmm...that is interesting. I have no idea why she would be doing that. Let us know if you find out. Maybe you should casually ask her and say something like "Oh I see you are doing some home improvements?" See what she says...

Glad I'm not alone Brandy! My DH is curious too but is no where near as nosy as I am. Even my Mom asks me if the tape is still up now when we talk lol.
Maybe she's selling drugs? Haha! Probably not, but you never know!

Weird! No ideas as to why she would be doing this, although the bird theory did cross my mind...but you're right, why not do that last window pane?

Ok, another theory just popped into my head just as I made that last post...
Doyou think she does it to block out or filter the sunlight somehow? I mean now that it's Spring and the sun is in a different position the light could be bothering her at certain times of the day??? Although you would wonder why not just pull the blinds or close the curtains? Maybe she doesn't want to completely block out all the light?
