Hi! DH and I are moving to CT in the next few months and I will be looking for an elementary teaching job for September. We are looking to move to the Madison/Guilford area but I would be willing to travel within a 30 mile radius for a job. So, my question is...what is the employment situation like for teachers in CT (permanent position)? It is a horrible situation here in RI. I am hoping for a better situation in CT. Any help would be greatly appreciated. TIA ladies!
Re: Question for Teachers
I haven't looked myself in a while but I think it is the same. Very competitive. It was difficult when I was looking about 6 yrs ago..and I had 3yrs experience...it still took me 2yrs to find a job. But everyone's luck is different and you will be looking at different areas then I did.
I recommend getting out resumes/applications to anywhere and everywhere in the area you are looking ASAP. Many areas start interviews early from my experience.
Check out www.cea.org for job listings and/or www.ctreap.net for postings.
Good Luck!!
It's horrible here too. Over 900 teachers in CT are being laid off all over the state. It took me 3 years to finally get a full time teaching position (that I've now been at for another 3 years). Keep sending out your info and checking www.ctreap.net
cea.org
ctreap.net
and schoolspring.com
offer positions in CT...you can search by district and by posting date
