Re: Risks rise in CA as parents choose not to vaccinate.

  • I think this is crazy. ?I'm a school psychologist and just went to an autism workshop. ?They shared the findings on that ruling and said that in countries who don't vaccinate...they are seeing the same increase in autism as us in the US.

  • I am not judging but... who wouldn't want to protect their kids from those different diseases that the vaccines protect against.

Especially if there is no link between autism and vaccines. ?It is just fear that fuels it. ?If the parents are as proactive as they claim to be they would see the studies that prove no?correlation.

    Anyway, just my opinion.?

  • We had a phone call at my preschool from a parent asking how many of the children at our school were vaccinated.  The director didn't know offhand the number, but guessed probably 95%.  The parent said thank you and hung up.  We later heard through the grapevine that this mother has been calling all the local preschools asking for their vacc. number because her daughter isn't vaccinated and she is looking for a school for her with at least a 90% vaccination rate.  Ugh.

Seriously - I would like to strangle that mother.

  • Man...I couldn't forward that article to my sister and BIL fast enough....they haven't given my little neice one single vaccination and I think it is so socially irresponsible.
  • I didn't read the article, but I've heard parents use the excuse "well everyone else is vaccinating so my child should be fine."  That's like saying "well everyone else is jumping off a bridge, I guess I will too."

I'm fortunate, I have a 100% vaccination rate at our preschool.  Some were delayed or spaced out but they are all vaccinated.

You find the highest numbers of unvaccinated children in home school situations because the school system pushes vaccinations so hard.

Interesting too that I received an email late on Friday from the Department of Health asking to complete a vaccination survey.  It basically asked what our policies were about non-vaccinated children.

  • We have Reese on a delayed schedule because of her size and I freak out every time she gets so much as the sniffles. Seriously, I can't imagine not vaccinating at all. I'd freak out and worry way too much.
