We're back in the hospital :(

Well, the homecoming didn't last long.  We were discharged on Weds afternoon, spent the day at home on Thursday, had our first well visit at the pediatrician on Friday morning.

Ainsley looked a little orange on Friday morning, so they tested her billirubin again and it came back at 25.3!  So off to the hospital to spend a day or two under the billi-light.

They also did a blood culture and OMG, a positive result came back.  The doc thought it just might have been from a contaminant, so they re-ordered the test.  Nope, not a contaminant... they just won't be able to identify it until tomorrow.  She said it may be one of 3 things (don't remember the names of 2, will have to ask again tomorrow), but the one she is thinking... she thinks it might be salmonella (sp?)!!!  How in the hell could she get that?  We may never know, but what we do know is that she and I will be here in the hospital (she will be hooked up to an antibiotic IV) for 10-14 days!!!!!

I have spent the last few hours in tears.  I feel so bad for her.  Welcome to the world little one, you're not even a week old yet and you have been poked so many times with needles and heel sticks etc.  The hormones don't make it any easier to keep myself calm and composed!

Please keep my baby in your prayers!!

Thanks

Re: We're back in the hospital :(

  • Oh hon..I'm sorry. I will be thinking about Ainsley and your family and hoping she makes a quick recovery. Your baby will amaze you at how strong she will be.

If you need someone to vent to let me know, I know what you are going through.

  • Oh my goodness! I will keep Ainsley (and you and your DH) in my thoughts and heart...poor sweet thing! I can understand the hormones and emotions making everything harder - I was a wreck for months after my baby was born.?

Hope she gets better really really soon!?

  • Oh, no. I'm so sorry to hear you're going through this. Thoughts and prayers to you and little Ainsley. Hope she feels better very soon!
  • I am so sorry you and your family have to go through this, I know how awful it is to have to visit your newborn in the hospital. My son actually went through something similar at 7 days old, but he was in the NICU. You and your family will be in my thoughts. If you ever need to talk, just page me on here.
  • I'll keep you and baby in my thoughts...
  • I am sorry I hope that she gets better soon!
  • (((((((HUGS)))))) I am so sorry your family has to deal with this.
