As a result of these updates, members of the Nest Community will need to change their password in order to continue participating in the community. I have my doubts, too.
First, I have no need for the list of every local board in the universe. Why suck up my screen real estate with that?
Second, they are using a LOT of vertical screen real estate on the posts. Completely unnecessary.
Third, there's a big fat ad (again, a tall one, not a short and wide one) in the middle of the posts. Did they think we would not notice this?
Fourth, the "local links" area in the bottom right requires you to select a city. Um, didn't I already select a city by coming to the STL board?
Yes, people generally hate change, but there are some real problems here. (And yes, I do this for a living. You're welcome for the free analysis.)
I do have to say, though, it's still a TON better than the baby boards with their framesets.
Luckily, I'm technically a newbie again anyway thanks to a perma-banning, so I don't have that issue to be outraged over.
I think the worst part is the edit function.

I'll add that I intuitively go to the far right to hit reply. It is seriously throwing me off having it be the leftmost button.
(Really - was this a better use of IT's time than, oh, fixing the search that hasn't worked for 2 years?)
THERE IS TOO MUCH WHITESPACE AND OTHER WASTED REAL ESTATE HERE.
Really. I want to know who designed this and, more importantly, who usability tested it!

It does feel kind of dated.
FAIL.
No me gusta.
First, it took like 3 minutes for this reply page to pop up.
Second, the font is ridiculously small.
Third, look how much vertical space each post takes up! Annek's post is, quite literally, taller than my browser window. Even the posts with no siggie are HUGE, thanks to the NINE rows of useless info on the left side of each post.
Change is good, but I can't imagine much thought went into this.
I agree about all the white space. ?Holy crap! ?Do we really need to scroll through this much blank space to read posts? ?Fine, editing my posts will be a nice change, but what about the freaking search function? ?They totally missed the memo about fixing what was broken BEFORE adding new features.

I also notice that they add new pages with fewer posts than before. This is probably a by-product of the white space.

Oh and, 8 posts? ?WTF is that about? ?What happened to DG's nesticle? ?Are all the counts going to reset??
