1) Did you help pick your e-ring or did DH on his own? I had always mentioned I liked princess-cut diamonds... the rest was up to him, and it is perfect!
2) Was the actual proposal a surprise? How did DH/FI propose? Sad to say, no. We went down to Key West for the weekend, and during the drive down, he had the box in his shorts... and it was quite obvious. LOL I have never told him though.
3) Did your DH talk to your parents before he proposed- did you expect him to or do you think this is too old-fashioned? He did, but only to my dad. My dad didn't want my mom to know b/c she has a big mouth and would blab immediately. I actually caught DH at my parent's house, and was so confused as to why he was there, while I was suppose to be at work! He played it off, and I didn't think much of it... until I saw the box in his shorts. LOL
4) How long was your engagement? Had it been up to DH, 6 mo! The only reason it was longer was b/c of scheduling issues. He wanted October, but it was too close to SIL's due date. Nov and Dec is his busy season, so no time off for him. And at the time, Jan to Apr was my busy season. May was it, but not available... so we got married June 4th, 13.5 mo after the engagement.
5) How soon after getting engaged did you start seriously planning the wedding? About a month. I was in a little shock, and well, initially I didn't get much support from my parents... no real reason why. I had a meltdown, and everyone was immediately on board! LOL

1) Did you help pick your e-ring or did DH on his own? I always wore a silver ring on my right hand and all my jewelry is silver. I had mentioned I wanted a princess cut. I got a gold band with a round stone. I really it though b/c he picked out my wedding band the same time and it is white gold so its very pretty together.

How did DH/FI propose?Yes and No. My MIL actually called me and left me a message on my cell phone while I was up visiting my dad before he left for Iraq asking me if my dad had said anything to me about DH calling him to ask. However I did not know that he was going to purpose at the airport when I got home.
He was on one knee when I walked down the terminal in PBIA with an older lady standing next to him yelling "WELL AREN'T YOU GOING TO ANSWER HIM"? LOL I laughed. It was cute

4) How long was your engagement? 16 months, It would have been shorter however we waited for my dad to get home. Luck would have it he was home 3 weeks before.

2) Was the actual proposal a surprise? How did DH/FI propose? I knew it was comming, I just didn't know when, but I had an inkling when all the parents were starring and smiling at me funny. He proposed in our favorite spot in the yard where we would always sit and talk before he went home for the night.

2) Was the actual proposal a surprise? How did DH/FI propose?Total surprise. When he actually asked, we were just having lunch together and talking about marriage. He proposed right there. Then about a month later he received the ring and insisted on taking me to the beach at night so he could surprise me with it.
3) Did your DH talk to your parents before he proposed- did you expect him to or do you think this is too old-fashioned?I thought he might, but because it was so spontaneous that didn't happen. We knew both sets of parents would approve, so it wasn't a big deal.

2) Was the actual proposal a surprise? How did DH/FI propose? It was a huuuge surprise. It is a very long story but basically DH lied and told me we were going to a party at a hotel. Took me up to a room, told me to look down on the sand and he had spelled out will you marry me in christmas lights on the sand. It was so romantic and definitely unforgettable.

5) How soon after getting engaged did you start seriously planning the wedding? A week after! lol. I was a little bridezilla in a good way. I did everything early. I knew I wanted to get married in November so I started right away. I loved and enjoyed planning my wedding.
2) Was the actual proposal a surprise? How did DH/FI propose? The proposal was a COMPLETE surprise. He proposed at our friends' house during a game of "Battle of the Sexes". He asked, "What do gold, silver and platinum have in common?" When I answered, he pulled out the ring, and got down on one knee!!

He wanted to talk to my Mom, who I lived with, but he didn't have time that week, and everytime he would try to set a time, it didn't work, because I was home, or around, and he didn't want me to suspect. I didn't mind either way... it was totally up to him.

1) Did you help pick your e-ring or did DH on his own? He picked the e-ring super cute. But when it came time for the wedding i had to buy a new one because he didnt buy the one with a band. And umm i ended up with a new one without a band either my finger looked weird.

My sister accidently did it by dad thought he had done it already and asked how the proposal went.... yea we had gotten back from our NY trip and DH happen to ask him before the trip so my dad assumed he did it on the trip but he didnt. 2) Was the actual proposal a surprise? How did DH/FI propose? Yes, a huge surprise! We were staying at the Ritz in Key Biscayne to celebrate Irwin's 30th birthday and I wasn't expecting it at all. He proposed on our balcony overlooking the ocean after dinner there our first night. I was in shock! I guess I shouldn't have been because we had been together 6 years at that point lol

No he actually didn't, he didn't even know to do that since he is from Norway and they don't do that there. But that's ok because my Dad is Norwegian and my Mom is from England so they didn't expect to be asked either
4) How long was your engagement? 1 year for legal wedding, 1 year and 5 months for big shebang wedding
5) How soon after getting engaged did you start seriously planning the wedding? The very next day! We went to our reception place and booked it :P Of course I had my moments where I'd do a lot, then nothing for months, it was an on and off cycle

1) Did you help pick your e-ring or did DH on his own? I had nothing to do with it. I was so impressed at his work and that he managed to do it all without consulting me.
2) Was the actual proposal a surprise? How did DH/FI propose? It was a complete surprise. He proposed to me on the beach after we had a nice dinner at a restaurant on the intracoastal. I made it pretty easy for him considering I suggested going for a walk on the beach after dinner.
3) Did your DH talk to your parents before he proposed- did you expect him to or do you think this is too old-fashioned? He spoke to my dad before proposing. I had a feeling he would do that - he's very traditional like that. I thought it was sweet.

2) Was the actual proposal a surprise? How did DH/FI propose? It was a surprise. It was Valentine's Day and landed on a Tuesday night, so we didn't have any big plans. We were just at his house eating pizza and watching American Idol. He bought me a box of Godiva chocolates and he had taken one of the chocolates out and replaced it with the ring.

He called them the night before to let them know that he was going to do it on Valentine's day. It wasn't so much to ask them permission but just let them know the plans. We had all talked about him and I getting married before so my parents knew it was coming. I wouldn't have minded if he hadn't let them know about the actual proposal ahead of time, but of course it's nice that he did.

We went to dinner at Red Fish Grill to celebrate my graduation, but the whole night he was acting so nervous and makeing these really weird comments about marriage and stuff. We wen walking along the beach after dinner and when we stopped at a bench and he went into his whole little speech I knew it was coming

Yes!! This is how he proposed: http://adrian.ziemkowski.com/family/us/engagement.php Yes, we are HUUUUUUUGE DORKS!!!! Even though I knew the proposal was coming soon since we'd bought the ring and everything, I had no idea when or how he was going to do it. It was so cute and sweet!!

Yes. My parents came to visit us in Gainesville and we sat down and he very sweetly told my parents how much he loved me and asked for their blessing in marriage! My parents definitely expected him to do this and would have been extremely offended if he had not, so there was no other option but for him to do it. He was happy to oblige though!

We actually started planning BEFORE we got engaged. When we bought the ring, I decided I wanted to get married on July 4th. I told my mom so she could go book a place immediately since I knew venues were going to book up. I was in Gainesville doing summer session at UF and couldn't come home for a few weeks and didn't want to risk losing out on getting married somewhere crappy! We didn't actually get "officially" engaged for another week or two.
