east coast ladies tell me about manchester!
Hello Ladies,
As well all know Julie just got a job promotion, working with a very skilled modeling program 3ds max. Well, this time next year there is an opportunity for her to advance even further, to the headquarters, which is in Manchester NH. We aren't sure about this, and yes it is FAAAAR off, but I thought I'd ask you ladies first. B/C as well all know a year flies by.
So tell me anything you can. Cost, Locations, Attitudes, subburbs, etc.

Re: east coast ladies tell me about manchester!
Don't know a whole lot about Manchester. But my wife is from a nearby town. The downtown is on the small side but the city sprawls quite a bit. The north east is pricey for housing but nh is def. cheaper than ma. NH is not as progressive as ma (not close) and we don't know much about the gay scene there. There are some nicer sections of manchester but some other rather sketchy places so you would need to be there to pick a place to live. Many people commute to MA from the manchester area so if you wanted a more liberal area you could do a reverse commute. I would say it is about 45 min to an hr from Boston. S grew up in Londonderry which I would describe as a stereotypical small NE town. It would def. not be Portland I would say that Portsmouth would be a cooler place to be (on the coast) but I don't know what the commute would be like (I don't think there is a good way to do that). If you are thinking of looking in northern MA I can be of more help as I grew up there. Hope that helps

I know *nothing* about manchester but... congrads to you and her on the imposing opportunity!!!!
We live in the Boston area, and love it, having lived here all our lives. Head's up about NH, they have just voted to Legalize Marriage in their House of Reps, now has to pass the Senate. Visit www.glad.org for more info.
Some people call it ManchVegas here in MA, if that gives you any idea. MA and NH are very different, though taxes are much lower in NH and don't exist on some things at all, car purchase, sales tax, income.
Portsmouth is a great town on the coast though.
