# of Views - Lurkers?

lol well some of the lurkers are probably regulars like me who may read a post but not reply to it if we have nothing to say

because many of us regulars are needed to open posts 10 times each since the replies are not refreshing very quickly (meaning post says it has 2 reples, you open and dont see any, and then 5 minutes later they finally show up) AND because Im not posting here since it either a) eats the replies b) crashes c) posts it 15 times

Does it count each and every time someone opens the post?  I think it may be mostly regulars who read and dont reply.

I open posts and then don't reply. I do it all the time. I think many regulars do, ?but who knows who of them are lurkers.

I think it's only counting unique users though.  If I open a post twice, it doesn't count 2 times, it only counts as 1 view.  I agree - I'm sure there are tons of lurkers.  I kind of like seeing how many views there are.

THis is really a test of posting here, but I'm curious if there's a way to find out if it's only unique viewers?  one of the other msg boards I read counts every view, regardless of user....

I think it's eye opening to see how many posts are read but not replied to!

Number of views is not by unique users.  I tested a post on the third page and opened it up 3 times, and it went from 13 views to 16 views...counting each time i opened it.

see, but I just "viewed" again -- maybe we should have a test post to see if the counts match the regulars viewing count.

I *think*, if you reply, its counts as a reply, if you view, it counts as a view.  But it won't count as both.

It's definitely not unique users (which is the opposite of what i said above) - I tested it out too.  So if I open the same post 5 times, it will register 5 views.  Seems like a dumb way to do it, but whatev.
