WTF?!... My vent!

As my sister's MOH, I am planning her shower. A few weeks ago, we picked a date, and I emailed my mom and my sister's future MIL as welll. I said please discreetly pencil this dates in your calendar and keep it a surprise.

Today, my sister receives an email from her future MIL, telling my sister the date of the shower! WTF?! What part of SURPRISE does she not understand?! I'm not happy... not at all... My sister loves surprises, and I know sometimes people slip up, but this is ridiculous. Get a clue, woman!

Re: WTF?!... My vent!

  • Can you possibly change the date so she is still surprised?
  • that is a total bummer! ?i would be super bummed, too!

Nope! There are several OOT bmaids, and we're doing the bachelorette that same weekend. I already booked the Chelsea hotel in AC, and it's a non-refundable suite.

  • What is wrong with that lady?!  Why would she do that??

I'm sure your sister will be happy with everything even though she knows.

  • Oh - and when my sister's FI emailed his mom and told her she messed up, she wrote an email to my sister, saying "SORRY... act surprised"

That sounds really heartfelt and sincere to me! SIKE...

  • That is awful!! why would she do that?!
  • It's frustrating when people can't keep surprises.  In my case it was my Mom.  She forwarded me an e-mail that had my shower date in it when I scrolled down.  I too love surprises, so even though I knew the date, my H blind folded me when I left the house, so when I arrived I had no idea where I was.  It was still a surprise and everything turned out beautifully.  I'd suggest doing that for your sister.

I also could have killed my mom at the time, but we were at my cousin's wedding the week before mine, and in front of my H she said, "I just knew that you two would have similar dresses".  Some people just don't have a filter I guess.
