buying tickets on CL

I am so chicken when it comes to buying stuff on CL. I found some tickets to Friday's Laker game... the seller wants to do the transaction through ebay/a broker so that he can verify that the funds are good, and that I received the tix. Does this sound shady? I can post his email.

 

any advice or thoughts?

does he have ebay feedback?  that's what i'd check first.

i think i'd be more comfortable going through ebay or a broker than CL, but maybe i'm just crazy.

ugh. had this come a few hours earlier, you could have bought our tix for friday's game. we just sold this them morning.

I get weirded out whenever someone suggests a different way to transact, esp when they claim it's safer. I know of people that have been ripped off using paypal, so my illusions of safety with that system have been crushed

total ugh! We sell tickets for the Chargers & Angels all the time on CL but I am so leery about buying them...

My girlfriend got so screwed with Lakers/Kings tix a few years ago.  Ever since then, she only buys from people that her friends or others she knows has bought from before. 

Personally, I wouldn't do it.  Well, unless they were willing to give you some verifying info.

It seems legit so I think I am going to give it a go. He gave me his ebay id (thanks for the rec to do that) and he had 100% positive feedback - over 450 ratings. I hope this doesn't blow up in my face.
