latest responses going to the top of page

I realize that a lot of message boards use the feature that the post with the latest response gets moved to the top of the page, but I don't think that I like that.  I feel like if you post something and it get very little or no replies, no one will look at it again because it will just get pushed to the bottom of the page.  I guess that isn't too different than a day that might have a lot of posts, but still......

Maybe I just don't do well with change.   Anyone with me?

Re: latest responses going to the top of page

  • The site I spend a lot of time on does that, and it's actually a nice feature.

BUT they also have different "folders" on each board, so there might be a chat folder where there's a lot of action, and another (say recipe swap) folder which doesn't, but each folder sorts separately so the chat threads don't hide the recipe threads, KWIM?

You can always reply to your own post to "bump" it up again if it isn't getting hits.

I always feel like when I post either early morning before work, or in the evening, my posts get knocked down by all the subsequent posts, so the bump feature is actually nice.
