DH and I are going to look into buying a home come October. We're going to start looking now though to see what's out there.

whoohoo! i wish we could buy a new house... we bought right at the peak & there's no way we could sell right now. so i envy you.

Lucky you! Now is the time to buy. Prices are dropping like flies. We're selling one of ours and I know we're not going to get anything for it. We bought during the peak and paid way too much for it. :-(

At the peak, our home had an equity value of $300K from what DH paid for it.  Now it is down to more like $150K which is very depressing.  Hopefully the market will shift and increase again before we have to sell and move due to DH job with the Raptor jets.

Lucky!!!  I wish I could buy now and start from scratch.  Hopefully the market will still be fantastic for buyers in October! 

We have 2 homes also, one of which we bought right the big boom but after home prices started to increase.  We could probably make what we owe on it, but not much more.  We probably paid too much for the house we are in now, but we call it our forever home.  Plus, we got a good deal because we took a chance on Mountain's Edge--a neighborhood that was pretty much all dirt when we bought!

We bought our house in Mountains Edge too!!  We have only lived in it for about a year and a half and now all the homes around us are going for 40-50k less it is very depressing.  I wish we would have waited because now I really want a single story :0(  Maybe in a few years!!  Good luck on house hunting there are alot of GREAT buys out there!!
